Greatest American Hero stars on Heroes (and gets Niki!)

William Katt, who played the title character in The Greatest American Herois now scheduled to make a guest appearance on Heroes.

Katt spoke to Newsarama where he revealed some details about his appearance on the show."I just filmed it last week," Katt said. "I play a really, really wonderful, seedy, smarmy-mouthed reporter that goes after Ali Larter. It was a lot of fun." Not only does this statement reveal that Larter's character, Niki, survived the Season Two cliff-hanger, Katt also says he worked nearly exclusively with Larter. "She hogged me. She wanted me all to herself," he jokes.

Katt has been a fan of Heroes since first seeing the pilot. "It's more Hitchcockian. It's a more dark and seedy look at the world of superheroes," Katt says, comparing Heroes to The Greatest American Hero. "It's offering to television viewers what some of the better comic books do. Tim Kring is just an extraordinary writer. And I think there's no end to his creativity. He's kind of mad, in an insane way. And that always makes it interesting. There are a lot of twists yet to come."

Beyond simply playing the lead superhero on GAH for three years, Katt has had a long love-affair with superheroes. Katt has worked as a voice actor on JLA and Batman, and is the co-owner of a new comic book publisher called Catastrophic Comics. Catastrophic Comics releases its first title, Sparks in July, 2008, with Katt saying he will be at the 2008 San Diego Comic-Con with another comic book-related announcement.
